Hearing Aids vs. Masks

Q:  In January I fulfilled a new year’s resolution to hear better and got some hearing aids.  I didn’t want the straps on face masks to pull them off my ears, so I got some aids that fit fully in my ear canals.  But I don’t like how they sound or feel.  What can I do?

A:  In Texas, you have a guaranteed 30-day return period with new hearing aids.  If you began wearing your custom hearing aids more than 30-days ago, your hearing center might still be able to return them to the manufacturer and order you some over-the-ear hearing aids.  This might incur a return fee of some kind.

If the hearing aids are causing pain, they can be returned and remade.  Your hearing center can also adjust the programming to improve how they sound.  If these steps have already been taken, and you are still prefer not to wear the custom hearing aids, ask your hearing center to help you out.

There are some basic tips to follow in order not to knock off your over-the-ear hearing aids as you remove a mask that has ear straps – call us and we will share the tips with you.
