Unsure about Hearing Aids
Q. I am finally ready to do something about my hearing loss, but I am unsure about hearing aids. They seem to work for some people and not work for others. How can I avoid throwing money away to find out if they will work for me?
A. Many hearing aid centers in the greater Austin area allow patients to use hearing aids without any obligation for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. This type of trial allows you to test out the hearing aids before you decide to buy them.
Also, the state of Texas has a mandatory 30-day return period for hearing aids. If for some reason you decide not to keep the hearing aids, state law gives you 30 days to return them for a refund.
The ideal time to evaluate hearing aids is right after you have a hearing test. Some hearing centers will prepare hearing aids immediately after a patient’s hearing test so they can listen to them right away.
When you arrange to wear the hearing aid for more than a few days, a hearing center often takes a partial deposit or full payment. Ideally, you will have a few follow up appointments during the trial. If you decide not to keep the hearing aids and return them at the end of the trial, you should receive your money back.
Call us at the Better Hearing Center of Austin for a complete and thorough appointment. You will be pleasantly surprised how nice it is to hear more easily and more clearly again. And ask us for a 4-week trial that allows you to fully test out hearing aids before your purchase them.
